Participant: Dr. Mark Worden

Mark Worden is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering and Materials Science Department at Michigan State University. He has Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. degree with a double major in Cell Biology and Chemistry. His research interests include protein expression, biomimetic interfaces, multiphase biocatalysis, nanotechnology, and biobased products. He holds patents related to microbiosensors, multiphase biocatalysis, and cell-growth methods. As director of the CNBI, he is involved in several aspects of CNBI research, including protein production using computer-controlled bioreactors, assembly of novel bioelectronic interface architectures, and development of biomimetic-interface technologies such as biosensor arrays, biocatalytic processes, and research tools to study the properties of membrane proteins.
